Mr. Thomas Shaw, of 78, High Street, Harriseahead, was yesterday awarded
the B.E.M.
Mr Shaw has worked in the mining industry for more than sixty years, fiftyfive
of them at the coalface. For thirty years at Whitfield colliery, then at Black
Bull, and finally at Victoria colliery.
